After what seems like an eternity, bilingual pop queen Becky G is finally ready to unleash her debut album. She fired up her social media accounts this morning to announce the arrival of Mala Santa on October 17. (It roughly translates as “Bad Saint”). The prolific hitmaker also shared the cover art, which depicts twin Beckys — an angelic one in white and, I’m assuming, a naughty one in black. The 22-year-old didn’t reveal the tracklist, but it will probably be announced on Friday (October 11) when the pre-order begins.
At this point, it’s more a question of what will be left off the album. After all, Ms. Gomez has three years of bangers (that’s just including her Spanish-language material) to sift through. There are massive hits like “Mayores,” “Sin Pijama” and “Cuando Te Besé” as well as more recent bops like “La Respuesta” and “Dollar.” Whatever she decides to include, Mala Santa is already destined to be one of the year’s biggest Latin-pop albums and the perfect soundtrack to any party.
